Hi everyone! I have a really important question. Sometimes I get really angry at kids and people around me, even over small things. After I calm down, I realize that what happened wasn't worth getting so angry about, and I'm sorry. What can I do to hold back and not start yelling right away? ❓

Every time you get angry, you can walk away right away so you don’t explode. You can take deep breaths, count to ten, drink a glass of water, go for a walk or think about good things. Basically, try anything that helps you calm down.

Dear reader,

First of all, the fact that you’re asking this question shows you’re on the right track and want to get over your anger.

My advice: every time you feel like getting angry, think about how you’ll feel afterward – that you’ll be sorry you exploded. That will help you not to yell.

Hello, dear reader:

I think that to stop yelling at people, try to give the other person the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they didn’t do it on purpose? Maybe they got confused? Maybe they made a mistake? Maybe they didn’t mean to hurt you at all and you just took it that way? Instead of making what they did bigger, try making it smaller – and that will help you not get angry and not yell.

Lots of luck!!!

Maybe you could talk about your problem with people who are close to you, and ask them not to be hurt if you yell, or to gently remind you when they see you’re losing control. Sometimes it’s good to share problems with people close to you, because they can help.

Lots of luck.

Dear reader,

I used to yell at people, but after I saw how much it hurt them – some didn’t forgive me even after I said sorry many times – I realized it really isn’t okay, because it hurts people a lot.

Think about the people you yell at and what they’re going through when you yell, and have compassion for them. That will help you not get angry at them. It helped me.

Good luck, with all my 💚
